Scosche In LINE Noise Suppressor Noise Filter For Car Stereo And Amplifier

Product Overview

Silence the Engine Whine and Reclaim Your Audio Clarity

If your speakers emit a high-pitched buzzing sound that accelerates when you step on the gas pedal, your car audio system is suffering from electrical noise pollution. The Scosche In-Line Noise Suppressor (Model: ES004) is an essential, highly effective single-stage electronic filter engineered to stop unwanted automotive interference in its tracks. By targeting the source of electrical interference before it reaches your equipment, it purifies the incoming +12V current to deliver crisp, noise-free sound.

Targeted Single-Stage Electronic Filtering

The modern automotive cabin is packed with microprocessors, alternators, and spark plug cables that bleed electromagnetic interference directly into your vehicles factory wiring harness. This heavy-duty, 10-Amp / 100-Watt rated filter acts as a protective barrier on the power line. It actively captures and suppresses high-frequency noise spikes, completely eliminating annoying engine hums, rapid spark clicks, and electronic control unit (ECU) ticking from your audio landscape.

Universal Compatibility & Straightforward Installation

Designed for ultimate versatility, the Scosche inline suppressor accommodates almost any standard aftermarket head unit, amplifier, or digital signal processor (DSP). The compact black module housing features a small, space-conscious layout that tucks cleanly out of sight behind dashboard consoles or underneath seats. With simple, color-coded wiring paths and included mounting screws, it can be integrated into your vehicle’s 12V system in a matter of minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Where exactly should I install the Scosche inline noise filter for the best results?

A: For optimal noise suppression, the filter should be installed inline on the 12-volt positive power wire as close as possible to the component experiencing the noise (such as right behind the head unit or right before the audio processor).

Q: Will this filter eliminate the buzzing sound that changes pitch when I rev the engine?

A: Yes! That specific high-pitched buzzing is called “alternator whine,” which is caused by electrical ripples traveling down your power line. The Scosche single-stage filter is designed precisely to smooth out these current fluctuations and silence engine hum.

Q: Can I use this noise suppressor for a high-powered 4-channel or mono amplifier?

A: This unit features a maximum current rating of 10 Amps (100 Watts). It is ideal for head units, equalizers, active crossovers, and low-power pre-amps. If you have a high-power multi-channel amplifier that pulls more than 10 Amps of current, you should not use this on the amplifier’s main power line; instead, install it on the head unit providing the signal, or use a dedicated RCA ground-loop isolator on the audio cables.

Q: What do the wires on the Scosche filter connect to?

A: The installation is simple: You cut the +12V main power wire leading to your stereo. Connect the filter’s Input wire to the power coming from the car battery, connect the filter’s Output wire directly to the stereo’s power wire, and securely ground the filter’s Black wire to a bare metal point on the vehicle’s chassis. Always disconnect your battery before starting!

Q: Is this a ground loop isolator for RCA patch cables?

A: No, this is an electrical power line filter. While ground loop isolators plug into the round RCA audio cables to fix signal issues, the Scosche ES004 filters raw 12V DC power lines to clean up dirty current before it enters your hardware.

If you are unsure whether your system needs a power line filter or an RCA ground-loop isolator to kill your specific sound system hum, describe the noise to me and I’ll help you diagnose it!
