Alpine SWJ-12S4 Bassline 12″ 1500W 300RMS Subwoofer

Product Overview

The is engineered to deliver deep, punchy low-end impact without straining your budget. As part of Alpines renowned Bassline lineup, this 12-inch driver combines proven motor geometry with high-rigidity cone materials to handle continuous high-volume playback.

Polypropylene and Mica Cone with P.W.R. Technology

The woofer features a polypropylene and mica injection-molded cone built to resist flex during high-excursion bass hits. Equipped with Alpines Progressive Wavelike Ribs (P.W.R.) cone design, the structural cone geometry adds stiffness without adding unnecessary weight, preventing acoustic distortion at high volume.

High-Excursion Poly-Foam Surround

Supporting the cone is a durable high-excursion poly-foam surround. Designed to allow long linear travel, this surround maintains tight control over the driver assembly, delivering quick, accurate bass notes and extending frequency response down to 22 Hz.

High Thermal Capacity & Single 4-Ohm Voice Coil

Featuring a single 4-Ohm voice coil configuration, the SWJ-12S4 handles 250W300W RMS power (up to 1500W Peak). Its rigid steel frame and optimized magnet motor structure divert thermal buildup away from the voice coil, ensuring reliable output during extended drives.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Is the Alpine SWJ-12S4 a powered subwoofer or a standalone driver?

A: This is a passive component subwoofer driver. It requires an external car audio power amplifier and a compatible speaker enclosure (sealed or ported) to function.

Q: What type of power amplifier should I use with this 12″ Alpine sub?

A: A monoblock amplifier outputting between 250W RMS and 350W RMS at 4 Ohms is ideal. Powering it within this range ensures optimal bass clarity without clipping or overpowering the driver.

Q: Should I put this subwoofer in a sealed box or a ported box?

A: If you prefer tight, accurate, and punchy bass for genres like rock and jazz, a sealed enclosure ($0.75ext{ to }1.5ext{ cu. ft.}$) is recommended. If you want louder, deeper, high-SPL bass for hip-hop or electronic music, choose a ported enclosure ($1.5ext{ to }2.5ext{ cu. ft.}$).

If you’d like, I can help calculate the exact ported enclosure tuning or recommend a compatible 4-ohm mono amplifier to pair with this subwoofer. Let me know how you’d like to proceed!
