JL Audio C1-650x & C1-650 Component And Coaxial Speaker

Extended 1+1 Year Brand Warranty

Combo of JL AUDIO C1-650 COMPONENT SPEAKER

JL AUDIO C1-650 6.5-inch (165 mm) 2-Way Component Speaker System

2-Way Component System: 6.5-inch (165 mm) Woofer, 0.75-inch (19 mm) Aluminum Dome Tweeter

C1 speakers deliver real substance and great audio performance in a format designed for easy fit behind factory grilles.

To facilitate fit, multi-application adaptor rings are included for the C1-650 woofers, allowing easy, drop-in installation in vehicles equipped with oversized 6.5-inch and 6.75-inch speaker openings. Without the ring, the woofers will also fit into many “6-inch” speaker locations as well. Surface and flush mounts are included with C1 tweeters for maximum installation versatility.

C1 woofer drivers benefit from proprietary FEA modeling and JL Audio’s expertise in low-frequency driver design. This knowledge is used to create speakers that can play loudly, while maintaining a smooth, dynamic, low distortion sound. At the core of the C1-650 is a proprietary, stamped, steel 6.50-inch (165 mm) frame and a DMA-optimized motor system. A mineral-filled, injection-molded polypropylene cone is suspended with a rubber surround on the front, and a carefully engineered flat Conex spider at the top of the voice coil, to precisely control the voice coil’s motion. Tinsel leads are carefully routed and attached to the spiders to prevent fatigue and buzzing. These are the same kinds of features and materials normally found on much more expensive loudspeakers.

Equipped with a true, edge-driven, aluminum dome tweeter, C1 speakers stand further apart from others in its category with superior high-frequency clarity and definition. The tweeters design has inherently excellent off-axis response and high-frequency extension. It also benefits from the damping of a silk surround suspension and Ferrofluid in the voice coil gap, along with the superior strength of a neodymium magnet circuit. An in-line, outboard 2nd order high-pass filter, with Advanced Tweeter Protection Circuitry, is included to further enhance smoothness and improve power handling.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is the main benefit of buying a mixed Component and Coaxial combo pack?

A: It gives you the absolute best acoustic staging configuration for a car. Component speakers separate the woofer and tweeter, which you place up front to raise the soundstage to your ear level where details matter most. Coaxial speakers keep the tweeter in the center, making them an easy, space-saving drop-in fit for the rear doors to provide an immersive “surround sound” feel for the entire cabin.

Q: Do I need an external amplifier to run this JL Audio C1 combo pack?

A: No, you don’t need one. The C1 series is intentionally engineered for high sensitivity, meaning they are designed to wake up and sound phenomenally dynamic using the low-wattage power coming straight out of your stock factory dashboard screen. However, they handle up to 50 Watts RMS continuously, so adding a clean 4-channel amplifier later will unlock even deeper mid-bass and crispness.

Q: Does this kit include the mounting brackets and screws for my specific car?

A: The C1-650 woofers include multi-application adapter rings built right into the box, which allow them to drop into standard 6.5-inch and slightly oversized 6.75-inch factory locations. Depending on your vehicle’s make and model (such as certain Hyundai, Honda, or Toyota cars), you may require basic vehicle-specific plastic adapter rings to match factory bolt patterns.

Q: Where do the crossovers go for the front component speakers?

A: JL Audio engineered the C1-650c components with intelligent inline crossovers. Instead of forcing you to mount a bulky plastic box inside your door panel, the filters are built directly into the wiring lines for the woofers and tweeters. This makes routing the cables incredibly easy and space-efficient.

Q: Are the tweeters harsh or bright to listen to on long drives?

A: Not at all. JL Audio chose edge-driven aluminum domes rather than cheap hard plastics. Aluminum offers excellent high-frequency extension and definition while maintaining a smooth, non-fatiguing sound signature that you can listen to comfortably for hours.
