Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What does “Active” or “Powered” subwoofer mean?

A: An active (or powered) subwoofer means the amplifier is built directly into the enclosure housing. You do not need to purchase a separate external monoblock amplifier. You simply supply power, ground, and an audio signal directly to the Vextron box to get it up and running.

Q: Can this 12-inch slim enclosure fit under the front seat of my car?

A: Because it houses a full-sized 12-inch driver to deliver deep sub-bass frequencies, the footprint of the enclosure is typically too wide for the tight clearance beneath front passenger seats. It is ideally optimized to lie flat on trunk floors, rest flush up against the back of rear seats, or fit behind the rear cabin wall of utility trucks.

Q: My car has a factory stereo with no RCA outputs. Can I still connect the Vextron SS12?

A: Yes! The Vextron SS12 features High-Level inputs (often called speaker-level inputs). This lets the installer tap directly into your vehicle’s existing left and right rear door speaker wires to grab an audio signal, bypassing the need for an aftermarket stereo or separate Line Output Converters (LOC).

Q: Does it include a remote bass control knob for the dashboard?

A: Active systems of this tier generally support external bass gain controls. This allows you to easily adjust the low-end volume on the fly from the driver’s seat depending on whether you’re listening to casual talk radio or bass-heavy tracks. (Note: Double check packaging contents on arrival for included layout items).

Q: How does a slim subwoofer compare to a traditional large deep-box subwoofer?

A: A traditional deep box moves a larger volume of internal air, allowing it to easily hit the lowest, vibrating sub-bass registers. A slim subwoofer uses a shallow-mount design and tighter air suspension to save space. While a deep box may edge out a slim enclosure on extreme notes, the Vextron SS12 bridges the gap by utilizing a wide 12-inch surface area to deliver tight, highly satisfying, and punchy bass that beats smaller 8-inch options while keeping your trunk fully usable.

If you need a complete 8-gauge amplifier wiring kit to run power safely from your battery to the trunk for this install, let me know and I can recommend a high-quality kit to add to your order!
