Sony XS-W104ES | 25 cm (10) Mobile ES 4-OHM Subwoofer

Product Overview

The Sony XS-W104ES is an audiophile-grade 10-inch ($25ext{ cm}$) single 4-ohm component subwoofer from Sonys flagship Mobile ES Series. Engineered to deliver accurate, tight, and impactful bass, the XS-W104ES pairs state-of-the-art materials with advanced acoustic geometry to reproduce sub-bass frequencies without distortion.

Cellular Reinforced Mica (MRC Honeycomb) Cone

At the center of the XS-W104ES is a Lightweight Cellular-Reinforced Mica Cone (MRC Honeycomb). This proprietary cone formulation provides extreme rigidity while remaining exceptionally lightweight, allowing the subwoofer to react instantaneously to rapid transients while preventing cone flex during heavy excursion.

Separated Notch Edge Surround & Five-Beam Frame Structure

To ensure clean mechanical movement, the woofer uses a Separated Notch Edge Surround that improves vertical symmetry and minimizes distortion. The motor assembly is mounted within a Five-Beam Frame Structure with an integrated dynamic air diffuser, ensuring efficient air circulation to cool the voice coil under sustained high-power listening.

Clean RMS Power Output & Enclosure Versatility

Rated at 350 Watts RMS (1800 Watts Peak), the XS-W104ES works brilliantly in both compact sealed enclosures for tight, punchy musical bass and ported (vented) enclosures for enhanced low-end impact.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What type of enclosure works best for the Sony XS-W104ES subwoofer?

A: The XS-W104ES is versatile and performs well in both sealed and ported enclosures. A sealed box will deliver tight, precise, acoustic bass suitable for jazz, rock, and sound-quality setups. A ported box will increase output efficiency and deliver heavier low-end rumble for hip-hop, electronic, and pop music.

Q: What size amplifier do I need to power this subwoofer?

A: You should pair the XS-W104ES with a monoblock or multi-channel amplifier that can deliver between 300 and 400 Watts RMS into a 4-ohm load.

Q: Can I wire two XS-W104ES subwoofers together to a 2-ohm monoblock amplifier?

A: Yes! Wiring two single 4-ohm XS-W104ES subwoofers in parallel creates a 2-ohm overall load, which allows a compatible monoblock amplifier to output higher RMS power.
