Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What does a Line Output Converter (LOC) do?

A: A Line Output Converter converts high-voltage speaker signals coming from a factory radio into low-voltage RCA pre-amp signals. This allows you to plug RCA cables into an aftermarket amplifier or active subwoofer, which factory radios lack.

Q: Do I need a Line Output Converter if my amplifier already has high-level inputs?

A: If your amplifier includes built-in high-level (speaker-level) inputs, you might not strictly need an LOC. However, using a dedicated converter like the Scosche 025LOC80 gives you adjustable gain knobs for better signal level matching and noise reduction before the audio reaches the amp.

Q: Where is the Scosche 025LOC80 usually installed in the car?

A: It is typically tapped into the rear speaker wiring behind the factory head unit or near the rear door/deck speakers, then routed via RCA cables straight into your amplifier’s input jacks.

Q: Does this converter require a separate 12V power connection?

A: No, the Scosche 025LOC80 is a passive line output converter. It operates directly off the speaker signal voltage and does not require separate 12V power or ground wiring to convert the signal.
